10 Top Tips For Using YouTube To Drive A Stampede Of Traffic To Your Website
If used properly, YouTube can be a very powerful tool for promoting your website. Here are my top 10 tips for using YT to drive a stampede of traffic to your website. [1] YT (and all the other video share sites) should only be used for promoting your website using short (1-2 mins) web video ads or commercials that highlight 2 or 3 main benefits of your site. [2] Make sure your website URL or logo is always on your YT video to promote your site and stop other people stealing it. [3] Always make sure the first thing you add to the 'Description' box of your YouTube video is your FULL URL e.g. http://www.yoursite.com This will make the link active in the description box, allowing viewers to click on it and go directly to your website. [4] Always direct the YT viewer to the active link in the description box at the end of your video to highlight it and make them click through to your site. This can be done by pointing to the left of the screen on the video and telling them to click on the link (most effective), or use the annotations tool to draw attention to the link. [5] Always include your chosen keyword or phrase in your YT video title. This is very important if you want to be picked up by Google for those keywords. [6] Make sure you add the image you want to appear in the YT preview exactly half-way through your video, as this is where one of the three preview images you are offered is selected from. [7] Always use unique content for your YT video description. Never use duplicate content from your website and check the keyword density (2-3%) or you could be penalised for spamming. [8] Never just fill your video description with keywords, or YT will delete your video and may even close your account. [9] Always allow your video to be rated, but only accept comments after they have been approved. That way you can keep out the nut-cases (and there are plenty of them on YT), and keep the comments that praise your video. [10] Open a separate YouTube account for each website you own. Never mix videos for different websites on the same account, as you don't want to dilute your branding and confuse viewers with unrelated videos.
